How Covid-19 will influence European Green Recovery
By Tom Carter, Senior Associate
Business in a post COVID world will not be business as usual. Governments are set to spend huge amounts to boost their economies once the pandemic lockdown is over. The European Parliament (EP) Green Group and several individual EU member states have announced their intention to dovetail the rebuilding of European economies with the implementation of the European Green Deal (EGD) and the equally ambitious Digital Transformation. Rather than put the EGD on hold during the COVID crisis, the EP’s Green Recovery initiative, launched 14 April, is likely to hasten the already aggressive schedule for taking action on sustainability and digital revolutions.
Successful sustainable businesses will need to understand the policy, networks, and nuances of the European Union and the EGD to take advantage of this rare confluence of opportunities. The EP’s Green Recovery has been endorsed by ministers from several EU member states, corporations from a broad range of business sectors, and civil society including NGOs.
Amplia Group and Passerelle Public Affairs will soon offer a series of free online networking and information-sharing sessions to introduce North American providers of sustainable services and products to representatives of multinational other industry leaders already doing business in Europe.
Together we will explore opportunities to collaborate on public policy, production, and market penetration efforts that can open doors for growing companies while introducing Europe to the sustainable products, systems, and services necessary to simultaneously rebuild their economies and carry out the EGD and the Digital Transformation.
